Partner reading means you do not read alone. You share a book with one other person and help each other.
When you read with a partner, you can:
- Sit side by side so you both see the same page
- Take turns reading pages, lines, or sentences
- Use echo reading — one partner reads a sentence, then the other partner reads the same sentence
- Stop and talk about what is happening in the book
Good reading partners:
- Use quiet voices
- Listen when the other person is reading
- Do not laugh at mistakes
- Help kindly if a word is hard: “Do you want help with that word?”
You can say things like:
- “You read this page. I will read the next page.”
- “Let’s try echo reading for this part.”
- “What was your favorite part so far?”
Today you will practice being a kind, helpful partner who takes turns, listens, and talks about the book.
